Office visits with Dr. Dolgoff will be weekly or bi-weekly and the plan will be modified, as needed. Your child will be weighed at each visit and measurements taken monthly. If your child's blood pressure is high, it will be reassessed monthly thereafter. Indirect calorimetry will be repeated as needed, as resting metabolic rate changes with weight loss and change in lean body mass.
If your child's weight loss is not optimal, the number of colored servings will be adjusted. Also, if your child is losing weight too quickly, modifications will be made. You will continually receive handouts with hints and strategies for healthy living and daily menu plan suggestions. Dr. Dolgoff will discuss any possible difficult situations that may arise in the next weeks and plan strategies to handle them. Ample time will be allotted for questions and discussion.
Studies show that professional monitoring during a weight management program leads to better, longer lasting results. No child should start a weight management program without the advice of a pediatrician. Dr. Dolgoff will personally counsel and support your child during his/her weight loss efforts. Any questions that arise between visits will be answered by phone consultation or e-mail. You and your child will know that you are not in this alone.
